Zappa Plays Zappa circa 2008
As a lifelong @zappa nerd I’m open to most anything Zappa. When Frank’s son @dweezilzappa
started doing the Zappa Plays Zappa thing, I approached with caution (but got tickets the first chance I had). After the first concert, I was hooked. The musicianship of the highest level, combined with Frank’s compositions, made for a memorable show in and of itself. That said, Dweezil’s legitimate and emotional nod to his father's work was moving. I can’t imagine anyone else carrying on with the family name as he has. I’ve been to almost every show in the Chicagoland area since. When the vibe could easily go toward the cheesy or purely mechanical, Dweezil pulls it back and makes it meaningful and real. Well done!
